Nate's 2nd Pinewood Derby

Nate took 2nd place.  

Last year, his friend M took 2nd and Nate took 1st.

This year, they flipped and M took 1st.  

They are good friends so Nate was super happy for him,

but it was fun to see the competition between the two.

Hood sledding for a church youth activity...

A big 4 wheeler pulled them around. 

They said it was fun and luckily everyone came home in one piece.

And of course, there must be a massive bonfire after.

I'll let you guess who was in charge of planning this activity,

(it wasn't the young women :)

Olivia participated in Odyssey of the Mind again at his year. 

She had a wonderful team and they were all very close.  

Her team chose problem #3:  Aesop Gone Viral: Teams will create and present an original performance about a fable gone "viral." The problem will include a list of fables attributed to Aesop. Teams will select one and portray it, and its moral, as going viral - that is, being shared throughout the community and beyond. The performance will be set in a past era and include a narrator character, an artistic representation of the fable's moral, and a character that makes a wrong conclusion about the moral and is corrected.

They picked The Bear and The Two Travelers for their fable.  They had to make their own sets, write their own script, make their costumes and props out of recycled material, and then of course perform their skit.  Olivia was the Jester and made her pants out of duct tape. It really is a clever program and it is fun to see how creative these kids can be.  

Sam also did Odyssey, but he wouldn't let me take any pictures.  

Since the 4th grade, she has dreamed of making it to the world competition.  

This year, they won 1st place in their division at the state competition

which means they are headed to Iowa for the world competition in May.

She has talked of little else since.

Liv's school also went to KUNA (KY United Nations Association)

Her group represented Singapore.

Sam had a special opportunity to participate in an Easter production 

at a local Baptist church.  He played the viola (sitting right next to the cello).

It was beautiful.

Some friends of ours have a beautiful farm 

and invited the kids to an Easter Egg hunt.  

Nate woke up sick, Sam and Liv are a little old,

so we just took Drew.  

But I guess he wasn't in the mood and didn't want to participate. 

Until we got home...

He then spent the rest of the afternoon hiding Easter eggs 

and begging us to find them.

That night we decorated Eater Eggs

This poor boy just didn't feel well

Luckily he felt a little better the next morning to celebrate Easter.
