Sick Day

Last week, I had two sick boys at home. Sam & Nate are 5 years apart, but Nathan just adores his big brother. Nate copies Sam and follows him everywhere. Sam is a great big brother and will take time to help Nate when he gets stuck or to take him out to play. On more than one occasion, I have gone in to check on them at night, and Nate has fallen asleep in Sam's bed - sometimes kicking Sam out of his own bed. I love to see the close bond that these two boys have with each other. They are so alike and yet their temperaments are so different. Sam is serious and a bit logic minded. Though he has a very loud and silly, crazy side, he has always liked straight lines, loves math, he is very organized and methodical and he doesn't like to get dirty. Sam has a great imagination, but doesn't seem too interested in sports. Nate, on the other hand, is so laid back, easy going and he is a rough and tumble boy. He loves to disrupt Sam's attempts to organize and Nate is a fantastic mess maker and loves to get dirty. Even at this young age, he is all about food and balls. I love to see how much they love each other and I hope they are always this close. Nate is so lucky to have a great brother to look up to.

While staying home sick, the boys were watching cartoons and when I peaked in on them, I found them cuddling like this.

Later that day, when they were obviously feeling better, Sam was giving Nate a ride.

Hiding behind the couch.
