Great Start to the Day

The kids and I have decided that we really love to walk to school. Unfortunately, school starts pretty early and there are only a few months in the school year when it is light enough for me to feel comfortable walking with the kids to school. But when the weather is nice and the daylight comes early, we try to walk to school every chance we get. It is one of the highlights of my day and it usually proves to be some of the best quality time I have with my kids. Sam is a complete morning person and just talks the whole way. Liv not so much, I usually have to help her a long a little. Nate just wakes up running (just like his dad).

(Liv didn't really want her picture taken this morning).

Nate loves horses. A few weeks ago, he started to "ride" his horse on our morning walks. His hands go out in front of him, holding onto the reigns and he gallops away. It is a good 20 minute walk each way to school and he will run the whole way some mornings. Some days I have to run to keep up with him.

Towards the end of our walk, we have to cross the railroad tracks via this rickety old bridge. It's not so bad as long as a train isn't passing through.
