For the past two years, Liv and I have been reading the Little House on the Prairie series. Last January, she and a friend decided they would dress up as the Ingall sisters for Halloween, Livie wanted to be Mary and her friend would be Laura. It was great when Livie wanted to use the same theme for her birthday party, I was glad she could get a little extra use from her costume.
When the girls first arrived, we gave them old fashioned paper dolls to color and cut out. We also had them take turns shaking a little jar of cream to make old fashioned homemade butter. For lunch, the girls had ham, carrots, corn, biscuits and apple cider, and of course homemade butter.
After lunch, the girls made bead necklaces while I read them the story of when Laura and her father visited an abadoned Indian camp. They found beads left behind by the Indians and took them home to make necklaces. We also read the story about Nellie Oleson and the leaches. Then each girl sewed a little pillow/pin cushion. Everyone had a great time.
