We drove 1600 miles for summer vacation...

As we drove over the Ohio River (and every bridge thereafter)

the kids broke out into song...

 

There's 104 days of summer vacation
And school comes along just to end it
So the annual problem for our generation
Is finding a good way to spend it

 

Our dentist gave them the idea (she thought we would appreciate it). 

Olivia knows ALL of the words to that song,

(Santa brought her the Phineas and Ferb Karaoke CD)

 

We only had 2 days to get there, so we were pretty rushed. 

Day 1 was hot, hot, hot and even more sticky.

By day 2 we needed a little break. 

We decided to stop at Cabella's in Sidney, NE.

 

We made it just in time for the 3rd of July

The next day, we went to the Hooper 4th of July Parade to see my Grandpa. 

He was honored and recognized that day for his service in World War II

and was part of the Grand Marshall float leading the parade. 

After the parade, we headed up the canyon for a very relaxing

 and fun afternoon with Jer's family. 

The kids got muddy and tired and had a wonderful time

(but I forgot the camera).

Went to the drive in,

 

And to the lake,

 

We went to a concert at Weber State University

and heard Tchaikovsky's 1812 overture with canons and all

 

We did some back to school shopping at the new City Creek Plaza, downtown SLC

where we found these awesome hats...

 

We had lots and lots of fun with cousins...

 

 

And spent precious time with our great grandparents...

 



Nate's our wild one, he now officially has horns :)

 

And there was lots and lots of swimming...
