For Easter this year, we added some new traditions.
Life seems to be going so quickly these days,
I'm trying hard to find ways to help us slow down and savor these seasons a little better.
On Thursday, we tried having our own little kid friendly Passover Dinner.
Fish, pita bread, boiled eggs, olives, celery and Honeycomb (cereal of course),
We didn't have lamb, so Liv found a picture of one for us.
It was thrown together at the last minute, but it was special.
Not a true Passover Dinner, but we discussed the symbolism of each item.
Then on Good Friday, we had Crown of Thorn cookies for breakfast.
Saturday, we decorated our Easter eggs,
(well most of us did, a certain person thought they were
too old to participate in such activities)
Drew decorated his with stickers
Nate painted his to look like Golden Eggs
Liv wanted to try the tie-dye in shaving cream method
And Jer just likes to pickle his eggs in pickle juice.
(It's actually really good, though I must admit I did doubt him at first)
We tried using a Golden Egg decorating kit,
it was supposed to make the eggs sparkle like 24K gold.
It was really messy and more complicated than I was looking for,
the eggs had to be painted, I prefer the dunk and dye method.
And after we put the eggs in the fridge, the paint rubbed off anyway.
Sunday morning, the kids woke up and found their Easter baskets
After we stayed home all day and watched General Conference.
I don't know if my memories are correct, but as a kid,
I remember going to my grandparents house on Easter Sunday and
the Ten Commandments would be on TV.
It seemed like a good Easter tradition,
so this year I bought the movie and we watched it.
(I forgot how long that movie was :)
We didn't get around to wearing our new Easter clothes until the next Sunday.
I will just let the pictures speak for themselves :)
(I love that Drew's suspenders belonged to Jer when he was little,
all of our boys have had a turn wearing them)
