One thing I really wanted to do this summer was to gather some family history stories. I've heard these stories my whole life, but I only know bits and pieces and I want to share them with my kids. I knew that we had a lot of great pioneer history, but I just didn't know the details.
Grammie had a lot of good information. One day we picked her up and she took us on a history tour of North Ogden. Her ancestors settled that area and she was born and raised there. She had all sorts of fun stories, including stories about gypsies and cowboys. It was a really nice day and I'm glad that my kids were able to spend that day with her as well. This was the first time the kids have visited Gramp's grave and that was also really special. We also got to see some of the homes that Grammie grew up in.
After our history tour, Grammie took us to Kirt's to get a Root Beer ice cream cone.
Grammie's grandfather (or maybe great-grandfather) was a cowboy who lived up at Promontory Point in Northern Utah. He would gather up wild horses and sell them to the US Army. There is not much to see up in that area, we decided to go check it out to make sure. We also saw the Golden Spike monument and museum.
