Sun Fish

A good chunk of our summer was spent in the swimming pool, literally, hours each day. The kids would swim in the afternoon, get out for lunch or dinner and as soon as Papa was home from work, they would con him into taking them swimming again. My dad is a great swim teacher and has taught my kids most of what they know about swimming, but while we were there, a neighbor came over and gave the kids swimming lessons. The only problem was that the swimming lessons were right in the middle of the day, which was fine, but we didn't go as many places this summer, just the swimming pool. At least I came home with a tan.

Swimming lessons with Whitney and cousins - Jaxon & Dallon

Sam loves the diving board...

Sam & Jaxon had a lot of fun doing tricks off the diving board. Olivia had fun choreographing her water ballets and Nate surprised me the most. For only being 2 years old, Nate is really good at holding his breath and could hold his breath long enough to go under water and pick up diving sticks off of the pool steps. He is way too brave, he can swim all over the pool with his life jacket on, including off the diving board and slide. I made sure that he had plenty of time without his life jacket too, especially during swimming lessons, but he still doesn't seem to understand that when the life jacket comes off, he will go under the water! He kept jumping in and needing to be rescued. I let him tough it out a few times and thought for sure after the first couple times he would learn a little respect for the water. I think he just thinks he can do anything "Bubbies" can do ("Bubbies" is Nate's special name for Sam, we don't know where he got it, but we think he is trying to call him "buddy").
