Today is the first day of summer vacation. I love summertime - it is a fundamental part of childhood. I love to hear the screen door open and shut a million times a day while the kids run and play outside. I love the funny little games the kids come up with on slow days when we are not always in a rush to get somewhere. But really, I just love not having to worry about homework! Of course in a few months, I will be singing the virtues of sending children back to school, but I will enjoy this for now.
We had a huge thunderstorm this morning. When it had cleared up it left the afternoon feeling quiet and cool. Later during our afternoon quiet time, I found Sam & Livie sitting outside on the swing reading their books.
